Susan Stamberg on NPR this morning:

"Four years ago FEMA identified the top disasters facing the United States:
a terrorist attack in New York,
a hurricane which would flood New Orleans,
and a major earthquake on California's San Andreas Fault

Two down, one to go."

They went on to interview our slight acquaintance Lucy Jones from the USGS (she moved out of an apartment in Somerville in 1977 when I moved in). It sounds like it will be a big mess, to say the least, when the "big one" hits LA. I feel that we personally protect Lexington from having earthquakes by carrying earthquake insurance on the house in a what's supposed to be a low-risk area. It's not cheap, but if is protecting the whole area, it's worth it ;-)
