I walked out of the Physics final on Monday after three hours, having finished about 1/3 of the problems. It was worth 30% of the semester grade and I was resigned to failing, and taking it yet again. The semester grades were posted this morning. B. What the heck? I know he has the reputation of giving very difficult exams and then assigning letter grades based absolutely on a normal curve, but this is ridiculous. What about the people who know what they're doing and really deserve an A or B? There aren't A+ (or A++) grades available for transcript or GPA purposes.
Still, it means that I can go ahead and do the other stuff I had planned for the first half of the summer (resume memorizing muscle origins and insertions, spend a week in England, clean the house, do some math review in preparation for taking Physics II in July & August).

In other exam news, I always am amazed at how my memory works (or doesn't). On yesterday's EP exam, as promised, there was a lot of stuff about tort law, much of it dealing with negligence.
There were a couple of things that one could predict (correctly, as it turns out) would come word for word from the class notes, so I had made index cards and added them to my study guide. When it came time to actually regurgitate them onto paper, I blanked on part of it. On the other hand, I remembered the answers to all the goofy stuff in the extra credit section (the store she used as an example during the liability discussion was Victoria's Secret. The kid who disobeyed orders and became paraplegic by messing about on the gym equipment while the teacher took a different child to the nurse's office was named Stanley. Stuff like that.) What's up with my brain?
