The president said that in a speech in January. It has seemed relevant in the past couple of days. We spent a little time in Waltham on Saturday, viewing all the steampunk stuff. We know the people who run the Prospect Hill forge http://www.prospecthillforge.com/ and a friend was with a group of engineer/tinkerers at their own tent. It was pouring rain for much of the time we were there and I was concerned about my straw hat, so we didn't stay too long, but in the indoor rooms for vendors we found a stove that I want for our dream house. Except that it costs $10,000 and I had about decided that we won't need a stove in the future. I use at most two burners on the stovetop, so a hot plate would do, and we use the toaster oven & microwave otherwise. Aside from the occasional pie or casserole, the oven really only gets used on Thanksgiving.
I found this one online that isn't as nice but is only (!) $6300.00.

I am pleased that these guys (unfortunately they're all guys - what do we have to do to get little girls involved in this kind of stuff?) have both the inventiveness and physicals skills to make a trial rollercoaster with Prius regenerative guts that can fuel itself, or add power back to the grid
