three happy-making things
Oct. 12th, 2011 08:00 pmYesterday the twenty-something guy playing fiddle and singing on the middle platform at Park Street Station had chosen the John Hartford song Long Hot Summer Day to entertain the crowd. I normally chuck a quarter into the case/hat of anybody performing, and did so, singing along as I walked down the platform. He saw me and expressed surprise. I went farther, then turned back, and put a dollar in, and hung around. He continued with two more JH songs for my benefit before the train came. The album with that song on it came out in about 1974 (:?), but of course it's on youtube, filmed in 1979. The songs he followed up may have been even older. (same concert footage)

If I had hundreds of Australian dollars to waste and a different body shape, I might buy this dress. The blatant pocket makes a clear utilitarian statement. I don't know why the model couldn't be bothered to even up her collar, though.

The currently available movie "What's your number" is reputed to be terrible, and I believe it. Fortunately, one need not see the movie to see different Boston neighborhoods, nicely filmed. Here's a clip in which the protagonists walk up Salem Street. I don't know whether they make it all the way to Old North or not
