I've finished the semester except for a group presentation and two written finals, which will happen on Wednesday - Friday next week.
I've bid farewell to the tooth that had decay up under the "furcation" as they kept saying. I haven't spent the time figuring out whether this is grammatical, but apparently it's dental. I haven't yet gotten used to the hole in the back of my mouth. Getting the space ready to have an implant will take months, apparently. There are donated bone bits there, to get the foundation for the implant going. I know from studying ACL repairs that allograft ligaments work better than autografts, but I had no idea I was going to get cadaver (?) bone.
We saw "The Descendants" and recommend it. We have loved our trips to Hawaii and found it pleasant to watch the film, but it didn't prompt a plane-ticket wish, as I thought it might.
The long saga of the porch repairs has begun. If we can convince the town that they are *repairs* and not new building, maybe we can get away without a permit, which means we won't have to have a hearing for a variance. The side porch is <10 feet from the property line, which I guess didn't bother anybody decades ago, but it's a problem now. Originally, the not-front door was on the back side of the house, but at some point, that was walled over, and the side door was put in. If we reversed the process, we wouldn't need a variance, because we have lots of back yard, but knocking a new doorway would probably be more nuisance than having hearings and filing paperwork.
Probably some other stuff happened. I'm going to NYC for the day tomorrow, for a bellringing gathering. In theory, that will give me many hours of bus time to study, but I suspect it will mostly be snoozing & zoning out.
