The backyard perseid report
Aug. 12th, 2013 07:16 am10:00 - 10:30 PM, August 11th. Arthur saw one, I saw a later one. We also saw Satellite Isis 1 (Arthur has downloaded a satellite identifying app to his telephone earlier this week, when we were (successfully) looking to see the space station zoom by).

Inside to bed.
2:11 - 2:25 AM August 12th. I (alone) got up, dressed, and went outside. 5 during that time. One every five minutes doesn't say shower to me, really. At some point I'd like to see more than one at a time. What was weird was that the background amount of light seemed greater at 2 than it had at 10. I don't think I could have seen something as faint as a satellite at that time.
Conclusion - probably not worth missing the sleep. I'll see how I feel next year. It seems like the sky is always clouded over at
Leonid time.
