Coincidental observance
Sep. 11th, 2018 09:00 amI had just passed through security at Logan and was starting to walk toward the gate, when I noticed that all TSA and other employees were standing stock still. I already was aware of today’s date, and immediately twigged to the time. I stopped where I was. Many others did too, but some looked confused. Then a chime sounded, and people went back to work. I was not the only one holding back tears, which kind of surprised me. I was at least two degrees of separation from anyone who died, and it has been a long time. Still, we are one terminal over from the departure place of two of the planes, and it seems personal.
I was not planning to commemorate the day in any way, but I am grateful to have participated.
correction edit - one of the planes left from C19, very close to where we were standing.
