More firsts ish
May. 21st, 2021 08:27 pmToday there was memorial gathering for one of the three ringers who died in April

It was at a funeral home, with bunches of people in one big room. More accurately, two bunches - a small group of ringers and a large group of chess players, because Ken was a tournament organizer for years. We chatted a little across the divide. The place had a one way system, mask requirement, and occupancy limit. I suppose all of that will disappear in a week. Beforehand, I think I will do another "back to normal" thing tomorrow and go to the Davis Square Goodwill, because I learned today that I couldn't zip the dress I wanted to wear. Fortunately, I had a baggier somewhat dressy thing available, but a level down from the one I had in mind. Didn't matter - the formality range in the room was work casual to suits. I was sorry to hear that there has been a boom in dress shoes in the past couple of weeks. I'd hoped that some pandemic improvements (like comfortable shoes) would linger in the general population. Maybe some people are happy about dressing up their feet, though.
