lauradi7dw: me wearing a straw hat and gray mask (anniversary)
Of the movies nominated for any category in the Oscars, I have seen Barbie, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1, Nimona, and the first hour of Past Lives. I went to see it in the little upstairs theater nearby. I was masked, but it is a small space and I didn't feel comfortable staying more than an hour. Arthur didn't go with me, and we agreed that we'd watch the whole thing together when it was released on DVD. I requested it from the library sometime in November, maybe. My name got to the top of the hold list last week, and it showed up on the shelf. It was a reminder to me how speedy all this new era is for me. We're not watching movies together anymore. And I'm not watching the rest of that one. For some reason, I couldn't get it to play at home. I was holding a bouquet of remotes, opening and closing the door of the DVD player, and just couldn't get the right combination of actions to make it show up on the screen. I dropped it off at the library, because surely people are eager to see it before tomorrow night, and thereafter. If I have the time, I plan to watch at least a bit each of Spider-man and Rustin, which are on Netflix (I think). Those are two separate movies, but now I'm thinking about what it would be like to have Bayard Rustin *be* Spider-man in some part of the multiverse. I can't write fan fiction, but maybe someone could. I claim to not like real person fan fic, but BR really was a kind of super-hero.

Afterthought - I learned today that the original casting for the character Hae Sung was Choi Woo-Shik (possibly best known in the US for his role in Parasite). Folks online pointed out that Greta Lee would not have been cast if that were true, because she is six years older than he is. I like his work, but Teo Yoo and GL were perfect, individually and together.

Still rowing 5000 meters a day, although today I split it into three sessions. Walked about five miles, which is maybe one or so more than some Saturdays (Home to library, Alewife to Davis, Lechmere to Old North, Old North to Charles, Davis to Alewife). Was at Tai Chi for an hour (I always arrive late and leave early, which is to say at the scheduled time), pleased to be there for the treat day of doing kicks with pastel-colored pool noodles as the target. Gratifying ringing practice. I am considering taking a hot bath to help make sure that I'm happy with my body tomorrow, but baths in a single-person house are scary. The bathmat that makes showers not quite so dangerous is hard on my butt due to the 3D non-skid parts, so if I take the mat out will I slip, hit my head, and drown? I think I will text Flo before and after, so that nobody has to find my bloated body at some point in the future.
Hoping to go to bed way early to prepare for the clock shift, but that might not happen.
