lauradi7dw: two bare feet in water (frog pond feet)
Last September I visited Arthur's parents for an afternoon

Yesterday was his father's birthday. Arthur's family have for the most part been clear that I am still family and will remain so, but that doesn't necessarily translate to remembering to include me in things. Unless it does. Time will tell. My own parents are gone. His parents are in their 90s. I wanted to see them, so I went on my own again. His mother's breathing problems, although caused by a different malady from that of my mother, are so similar that I feel like I'm living part of it all over. This time I was there from yesterday afternoon through this morning. They asked why I was leaving so soon, saying that they would have liked it to be longer. That is nice, but better to leave too soon than to overstay. On the return trip on this windy day there were two entire teams of lacrosse players (seated in different parts of the plane, by gender) from a Massachusetts private high school. Had they not had bumpy flights before? The guys in front of me were visibly and audibly perturbed by how much the plane was shaking, and applauded when we landed safely. I don't fly much anymore, but it didn't feel scary to me. (It was an airbus 321, not a Boeing plane, if that makes any difference in confidence).

I met up with Arthur for a walk and talk to tell him all my observations about his parents' health, plus other stuff. I remember the expression "pediconference" from the Television Without Pity recaps of the "West Wing," used to refer to the fast-talking fast-walking conversations between fictional White House staffers. No national policy decisions involved in this case, just worries about loved ones.
