lauradi7dw: me wearing a straw hat and gray mask (anniversary)
Ethan and Maya Hawke in the Criterion Collection. I've seen a number of the movies they put into their canvas bags. I realized after the fact that I have not seen "Children of Paradise," which they strongly recommend. I was thinking of "Children of Heaven," which *I* strongly recommend. I watch documentaries from time to time but aside from a Korean S-F movie on Netflix a couple of months ago, I can't name a fictional movie I've seen in quite a while. That's not true. I went to see "My Penguin Friend," which was a fictionalized version of a real story, not a documentary. Has my attention span shrunk too much? Davis Square Martial Arts is sponsoring a film night (in the back room of the studio) on Friday, for everybody to watch "Kung Fu Hustle." I'm not going to go (still mostly isolating, although I am planning to go to the Farmers' Market this afternoon, masked). KFH is a movie I've seen already, anyway.

This is Covid day 10. I haven't had a temperature above 98.8 in 5 days. My pulse Ox is up to 98. I am still a snot factory and feel somewhat lightheaded. I am clearly not well. One gathers from the CDC that it's totally groovy for me to go out in public masked. With many worried feelings, I went to the farmers' market. I was wishing for peaches (got them) and a few other things, and really wishing for Korean radish for pickling. I bought the biggest one I've ever seen. I'm not sure I can figure out how to make it last for months, but I will think about it. I'm not going to start working on it yet but will eat the greens tonight.

PS I saved the image as "radish of unusual size."

PPS probably I should make radish kimshi with it, but my one attempt at regular kimchi (with napa cabbage) was a disaster. I don't want to waste this.
