lauradi7dw: fountain pen in hand with paper (writing)
That sounds like a sentence that could have been written any time in the past 250 years. As it happens, it was yesterday, in a letter that President Biden* wrote the leaders of the House and Senate, about the slacker behavior of people who are on vacation instead of working for their constituents

Also, in case you need it, the FEMA rumor-dispelling website

* an indication of solemnity. I usual refer to him as Joe.

Shall I be the harbinger of doom? Considering how stretched-thin local, state, and federal government services are, I suspect that nobody is really ready for Hurricane Milton to hit Florida

In case anybody wonders why I often link to the USAToday, it's because they don't have a paywall. Ads, though.

I want to watch this

I switched the VPN to be based in the UK, but the BBC iPlayer still discerned where I actually am, and refused to show it to me. Interestingly, though, when I went to youtube for something else, it gave me the UK style cookie notice. It told me my history was off. That's fine. Then it said I have to log in to watched the video I picked, because it assumes I am a bot. That did not make me happy.
Can't have everything. Or maybe one can. Back in the USA, VPN-wise, I discovered that the whole show is on youtube (now that it lets me in).
