lauradi7dw: me wearing a straw hat and gray mask (anniversary)
[Edit at 8:21 PM - choir and instrumentalists at the church service I am watching (streaming) are doing Little Drummer boy. I am remembering Christmas eve of 2021, watching a different service stream with my mother, with the caregiver humming along to some of the carols.]

I made it to Christmas eve without hearing "Last Christmas" but today there was a duet by Sabrina Carpenter and Cara Delevingne. I haven't heard "Little Drummer Boy" yet but was offered a link of the Bing Crosby/David Bowie version (I didn't click on it).
The weirdest thing is that I haven't listened to/accidentally heard any medieval or Renaissance Christmas music. I skipped the Messiah singalong because I didn't want to be in an unventilated rooms with hundreds of unmasked singers. Tomorrow afternoon I'll drag out the decades-old records of Early music.

Speaking of Bing Crosby, his estate reached out to BTS member Kim Taehyung (V), who has done swing-era music before, and is an admirer of BC's music. They didn't do an AI thing, just careful studio mixing. Unnecessary but nice enough. The dog in the cartoon video is Yeontan, Taehyng's recently deceased pet.

An hour and a half before I drive west to a gathering, today's snow has started. Not thrilled, but it is pretty.

As of this afternoon, I was still having wild fantasies, planning a complicated trip for next month. But by the time I got home from the family gathering* washed the dishes, and set up yeast rolls to rise for tomorrow, I took a nap. At 7 PM. Overnights on a plane or train don't seem sensible or even feasible at this moment.

* Pleasant. Vast quantities of food, which I ate on the porch. I left before it was entirely dark, managed to drive even after it became so. Why did I think there were lights along 128? Because all the headlights make it seem fairly bright?
