My eyes are healthy
Jan. 7th, 2025 12:31 pmMy distance prescription has changed slightly - apparently my right eye is improving. It's not enough that I have to get new glasses with the updated prescription. I asked, because my prescription sunglasses are less than six months old and I didn't want to deal with it. She doesn't think it's time for cataract surgery yet. It has been two hours since the drops and my eyes are still dilated.
[it ultimately took six hours before my eyes were entirely back to normal.]
The Somerville Harvard Vanguard has signs up saying masks are strongly encouraged. Almost nobody was wearing one, including the three unrelated ladies in the waiting room who were blowing their noses. (I admit it's hard to blow your nose in a mask, but you can put one on afterwards). The eye doctor was (baggy blue) masked, though. I wonder if their actual policy is like that of Mass General, in which workers (paid and volunteer) are required to mask now when "interacting with patients." That is not the same as walking in the hall next to them, apparently. The policy requiring some masks was a triggered response to how high the respiratory infection rate is currently, the same as last winter.

(I still am not good at alt text. The cartoon shows a doctor talking to a patient, saying that he's healthy but won't be for long, considering the number of sick people who have been in the waiting room).
