a mixed day
Jan. 11th, 2025 06:24 pmThe snow forecasts seemed to be inconsistent, so I ignored them. This morning I shoveled just a bit (sidewalk, neighbor's steps) before time for the (very delayed by weather) bus. Then I was hastening to the bus top, slipped, and fell. Felt bruised, not broken, but the combination of famous people death and too many medical shows made me worry that I harmed my brain. My head didn't hit the ground, but felt a bit shaken around. When Flo was a teenager she was snow tubing and went over a bump. Her head didn't hit the ground either, but she was unconscious for a few minutes and has no memory between the top of the hill and the ambulance. (CT scan was OK, follow-up with neuropsychologist was OK. We were very lucky). I went on to the bus. I think I must have left my hat on the bus, because when I got ready to leave the Red line, no hat. It wasn't one of my most favorites, but I should have been more careful. I hope some stranger is having a warm head now, instead of a bus cleaner throwing it away.
I was distracted during the short amount of Tai Chi I attended. I had (or imagined?) a metallic taste in my mouth, and decided that ice cream would help. I think it did. Have me outside the Old North church, representing New England values to a couple of Freedom Trail tourists who had never previously experienced snow (the little white streaks in the photo are falling flakes) and were slightly surprised seeing me eating ice cream in that weather. (obviously one is supposed to do so, because I had no trouble finding the cone in the nearby convenience store).

We had a good ringing practice and hanging out time. I got home and decided that I really had to clear the driveway today, because the aches I have from the fall will just get worse overnight (probably).
So that's done too.
I'm looking forward to a hot bath. I warned Flo that I will text her before and after, because I'm always afraid of falling in the tub. I hope this is my only fall of the year, but there are a lot of days still on the calendar.
