lauradi7dw: Space station (Iss)
A couple of weeks ago I posted about watching a space walk

They're at it again. Currently doing something with the robot arm. "lefty loosey," says Butch.
The space station on the fictional series I've been watching ("When the Stars Gossip") was badly damaged by space debris in the most recent episode. I expect that real-life NASA is keeping track, and that they wouldn't have sent the folks out there today if they were going to be hit by tiny (or big) junk, but all that stuff is problematic, and I don't like that this walk is happening during astronaut death commemoration week (That's how I think of it - it's not an official name).

* SPOILER I was justified in one of my plot predictions. A pretty good proposition line, though: "Let's try doing what the mice couldn't"

Trump showed no sympathy for the victims of the plane/helicopter crash. All the blame to DEI policies, including the (apparently first time in history) complaint about an employee with dwarfism.
I'm not ready to blame the Republican administration for the crash, because there hasn't been a whole lot of time since "on Donald Trump's 2nd day he fired the head of the Transportation Security Administration, fired the entire Aviation Security Advisory Committee, froze hiring of all Air Traffic Controllers and fired the 100 top FAA security officers," (I don't know the name of the person who worded it like that on twitter, so feel free to check the accuracy of the citation). Freezing hiring on the ATC folks doesn't mean that there were too few in the tower yesterday.

Update: yes, they seem to have been short one controller. We're probably still getting rumors, though.

Also from the press conference - Trump talked about Pete Buttigieg as the current Secretary of Transportation and what a disaster he is. Do you suppose Sean Duffy's feelings are hurt?
