Two eggs, Muriel, do you think I'm cheap?

I make matzo balls once a year. I use the Jennie Grossinger recipe, with butter instead of the chicken fat she suggests. There are in fact two eggs with the one cup of matzo meal in her recipe. My memory seems hit or miss to me in some cases, but some memories with an association stick forever. In about 1978, an apartment mate was impersonating her grandmother responding to her mother's question about the matzo ball recipe. I think of this every year, even though I am long out of touch with EK.

The question might seem different now. I paid almost $7 a dozen for the store brand cage-free chicken eggs this week. I was not shocked or outraged.
