Maybe I should write in the paper journal again

I was about to post a thought here that felt monumental when I thought it but seems goofy when typing it out.
My little stable of faithful readers doesn't need to be burdened with a self-revelation about socks.
Also, is it rude to reach out to a friend who was part of a group apartment in the late 1970s to ask a question about a conversation from the time? Arthur was another one of the friends in that apartment, and I'm not reaching out to ask him.

If you're still in touch with the friend, I don't see why it would be rude. If you haven't spoken since the late '70's, might be more awkward.

Honestly, as long as you're still friends with the person (and I would definitely count "we drifted apart and haven't spoken in years, but the last we did speak was friendly") I think they might be pleased to have an excuse to have a little conversation and check in with each other, and a "do you remember this detail" feels like a good lede to such a thing.

I glanced over at the drying rack (I don't own a dryer. I believe they are fire risks, among other things).
I thought "I should put my socks away." Then I thought "they are *all* my socks." Aside from a couple of vintage things of Arthur's that I agreed he could leave behind and some clothes of Flo's (nothing more recent than when she was in high school, so stored for almost 20 years), all clothes in the house are mine.
Melancholy feeling about living alone. I could do something about that, if I could get my act in gear.
Then I reminded myself that I had worn a pair of my mother's socks on Monday. Moment of memories of her last year, when her lower extremities started to swell because of heart failure.

We send each other physical holiday cards and get in touch by email very occasionally. I think the last time was about a year ago, after I got back from South Korea.
