weddings for regular people?
Jan. 7th, 2008 02:10 pmThe usual would rather write in LJ than do an essay procrastination (but this essay only has to be two pages and it's about what makes a book suitable for a toddler, so it shouldn't cause much agony).
I am wracking my brain to come up with movie weddings in England that don't involve at least one very rich person. "Educating Rita" is one (filmed in Ireland but set in Liverpool). Maybe Eliza Doolittle's father in "My Fair Lady," but I don't remember anything about the bride.
That's all I can think of. Have there been weddings in any Mike Leigh movies? A lot of his protagonists are working class. Elfine Starkadder wasn't especially well-off, but Dick Hawk-Monitor certainly was. Marianne Dashwood no, Colonel Brandon yes. The "Four Weddings" folks mostly had money on both sides. A goofy thing to be fixated on.
