lauradi7dwThe regular laptop is in the shop (its fan broke last summer, and I finally decided it was time to get it fixed). After a good bit of experimenting and by using the neighbor's unsecured signal, I have achieved internet access on
the little XO. I haven't made any exotic (or not) penpals yet, though, and have had some other problems. The real test
will come sometime in the future when I take it on a trip. It's very light weight (and has a built-in drum machine, just the sort of thing to annoy people if I ever need to do that).

Date: 2008-01-27 01:59 pm (UTC)encyclopedia articles, internet access, a way (that I haven't figured out) to network with other XO users, and stuff for expressing creativity, such as paint with the mouse kind of stuff and a couple of kinds of music programs. The tamtam jam is a drum machine and you can vary the rhythm. There are (presumably something like midi) samples of other instruments, and there's a microphone so you can add your own voice or instruments. I'm not young or clever or creative, so I haven't tried out that stuff. (or more accurately, puzzled it out. There are almost no instructions for any of this).
