making a fashion statement?
Jan. 28th, 2008 08:40 amI watched the film "Once" and decided that I would really like to dress like the lead character (called "girl" in the credits. Her co-lead is called "guy." I watched the whole movie without noticing that most of the characters didn't have names). I already own thrift shop skirts, but I don't think I could pull off her look. See

She's thin, she's pretty, and if the IMDb is correct, she's Florence's age. I'm not those. Besides possibly looking silly (never stopped me before), I would look even more out of place than I currently do. Classes start tomorrow, and I'll look around, but I don't think anybody at UMass Lowell dresses like that.
Speaking of skirts and people Florence's age (in this case, Florence), I got a call from her earlier this evening. Trying to diagnose and solve the problem she's having with bobbin tension on her sewing machine is hard over the phone. All I could do was suggest some of the standard stuff that she'd probably already tried. I was in despair about the distance, but in fact even if she were a lot closer I wouldn't have really been able to help much. Still, it was frustrating not being able to poke around.
