I hate scrubbing. I hate vacuuming. I hate recycling articles that I saved 20 years ago and still like re-reading. I hate mildewed grout but also hate bleach. I hate the 40 year old shag carpet in the living room but expressing my frustration by ripping it out of the floor (it's wall to wall, tacked down in spots) would not be the most productive way of spending my time when we have house guests arriving in less than 48 hours and I have many hours of other stuff I have to do in the meantime (including minding a table at the MIT activities midway, which I also don't enjoy).
I don't really want to hire a cleaning person, but I would like to have a cheerleader of some sort keeping me motivated. Several years ago Florence spent an entire day sitting next to me helping and exhorting as we cleared our stuff out of the office so it could be Arthur's office (not everybody's) but she's not here, and even if she were, I can't imagine how much I'd have to pay her to do it again.

I have fond memories of a rainy 4th of July when you helped us sort stacks of little kid clothes in the attic, and of course you have intimate connections with those carpets. When you're here next month, feel free to clean things.
