change of seasons

After two days of the downstairs thermometer registering 55 degrees F, I have turned on the furnace. Maybe in a day or two I'll turn it back off, but I suppose I'm declaring the beginning of winter.

Wow. Now I understand how people wait so long to turn on their furnaces. We've been getting 55 or below in the house for over a month. Today is 26 outside.

We hadn't had frost until Friday night/Saturday morning, and it tends to warm up during the day. We're at the 128 weather forecast ring and you're more like the 495. The distance from the ocean really does make a difference, I think.
