John McCain gets a one-day pass

I'm still glad he's not president, but he seems to be a better representative/senator than lots of them, at least in terms of being up close and personal with his constituents. Most of the congressfolk have quit having town meetings or open meetings of other sorts, mostly because of the obnoxious shout them down opposition contingent, but also because of security worries. McCain hasn't stopped doing it, and I admire him for that.

I am not afraid to fly on September 11th

Which is a good thing, because I am planning to do so. I am worried and furious that the various agencies allegedly aiming to protect us are fighting the last war, stepping up security theater and harassment that weekend, but I have no Fear of Flying. Actual fears:
That something bad (unspecified) will happen to Flo.
That my father's terrible driving will cause someone harm.
That my mother's femur won't heal.
Something even more vague about Arthur.
That I will fall or have a heart attack, especially while running. (did I mention that one of the fingers that was sprained in the April fall actually turned out to have a fracture that didn't heal quite right? I am considering writing a letter to Lahey to complain. Both the ER doc and the radiologist missed it. The x-ray that was taken when I was still having some discomfort months later showed it clearly).
