Am I surprised?

I've been following a soldier on youtube who has been getting ready for the end of DADT. His channel is called AreYouSurprised. He's been gradually coming out to some of his buddies (despite the rule) but in the videos he has not shown his face, until today, and has not told any family members until today. I didn't imagine his face quite like it is, but what surprises me is the length of his hair. It's not really shaggy, but it's longer than I associate with male soldiers.
