I had heard of most of them, but not Emilie du Chatelet. I have a postcard of Mary Anning that we bought in Lyme Regis, where she did much of her fossil hunting. I found the link on a blog pointing out that while there are lots of women atheists, hardly anybody could name famous ones (I only came up with Greta Christina and Julia Sweeney and Madalyn Murray O'Hair, having never heard of Susan Jacoby or Annie Laurie Gaylor or Jennifer Michael Hecht). (should that be nor in all those cases, rather than or?)
