Last night I went to the 7 PM show of "The History of Future Folk"

at the Science Fiction Festival at the Somerville Theater. (short reflections behind the cut). The last 62/76 bus (the Saturday combination of the two routes that go through Lexington) out of Alewife is at 7, so taking the bus wasn't an option. I allowed about half an hour to park, and used it all. I haven't calculated how many pounds of CO2 I wasted driving in circles. I definitely had the thought while driving around that staying home might have been better, or that we should re-think the decision not to move closer to the T.
This morning I was planning to drive over 30 miles each way to run in a race in Foxboro. No T option there. They didn't announce a weather postponement until a couple of minutes ago, ie 3 hours before the race. I'm about to start clearing the driveway, but they haven't plowed our street. Hoping the residual salt deposits will do the trick, I guess. The advice of the 6:30 AM TV meteorologist was to "Stay inside with a book." I thought that was sweet - she didn't say "Stay inside and watch our TV station." But I won't. I presume I will try to drive at a crawl to Alewife, and go to service ringing.
