A skill issue. Perceiving hotness is a skill? I assume it is something that is trained (by one's culture) but does practice change perceptions?

realizations

I was idly looking at the Korean picture dictionary on my phone in the subway and wondered why one of the words for circle sounded so familiar. I realized that it is the name of a character in a TV show. The writers or the people who translate for the subtitles never said anything about school friends mocking her for being named circle or anything like that. If we knew, were we supposed to gather something about her parents or her past? If this were Charles Dickens, it would be significant, but maybe the parents were just supposed to be quirky? There was a family in my high in which the girls had jokey names that matched their surnames. I'm not going to mention it because one of them shows up in an internet search and I don't want to invade her privacy. I'm just saying that I'm not complaining about fictional Korean parents. In another drama, the mother gave emotional reasons for naming her kids Sky and Sea (words that I knew).

RIP Richard Sherman. I didn't notice until today that "Feed the Birds" is a waltz. Nor "Let's Go fly a kite," but there they are.
