Starting today, records from players in the Negro Leagues will be integrated into the MLB records (unintentional play on words. I'll leave it there).
Josh Gibson now takes over as leading batter
From the Wikipedia article cited below:
>>giving Gibson the highest single-season major league batting average at .466 (1943) and the highest career batting average at .372.<<

An episode of the X-file (season 6) called "The Unnatural," about an alien who played in the Negro Leagues, ended with a scene of Mulder teaching Scully how to bat. He gives good advice, not much different from some advice about using a Tai Chi straight sword. Mulder is wearing a commemorative vintage Homestead Grays jersey. At 2:22, especially, one can see that it says Gibson on the back. There are versions of it available on Ebay. Hmm.

Gibson is not mentioned in this song, maybe because he had already died? Or because he didn't really play in the Major leagues? Still worth listening to.

This is Iowa, from my train trip almost a year ago

I would not have guessed from my narrow view of the state that there are chicken farms (for eggs) big enough to have millions of chickens. One of the farms being tested for avian flu has 4.2 millions hens.

The Watersons.
