In February I was way more depressed than I am now, possibly not capable of coherent planning. I registered for the race that I am not really training for (10 days from now!). I booked a motel room in Northeast Harbor based on proximity to the start of the half-marathon. Yes, that would save time on race morning. But the race ends in Southwest Harbor and then there are buses to Bar Harbor. That would leave me eleven miles from where I'm staying. There are pre-dawn buses from Bar Harbor to the starting line. As absurd as it seems, the only practical way to do this is to drive from the motel to Bar Harbor, find a place to park (supposedly plentiful), and take the bus essentially to where I started from. After the race, I'll need to retrieve my parked car from Bar Harbor and again make the drive. Presumably they expect people to stay in Bar Harbor, as all the included transportation is based there. I have paid for the place I'm staying in advance and at this point almost everything in Bar Harbor is sold out, or extremely expensive, so changing lodging won't happen.
