from grandiose to not
Nov. 25th, 2024 03:56 pmThere is a very large cedar tree between my house and the next-door neighbors.

That's the sun shining through, creating a nice lighting effect.
I remembered guys working on a tree in the backyard a few years ago

I wondered what they would charge to trim branches on the neighbors' side (the tree drops detritus into their gutter) and then hang lights on the tree for the season. I guess I'd need to run a mighty extension cord from the porch to power the lights or hire an electrician to run an outside line somehow.
Thousands of dollars, probably.
Then, at the other end of my interior conversation with myself, I thought: "What if I just throw a string of lights out the bedroom window to see if I could get them to hang off of a branch>"
Tree from said window:

In that case I'd have to have the window open a bit for the extension cord to fit. How could I block the incoming cold air?
Speaking of cold air, it has been true the whole time we've owned this house that the radiator in Flo's childhood room barely worked, compared to the other radiators. I decided to bleed it at 11:15 last night, when I should have been asleep, but it didn't help. I could use the tree lights money for that, if one thinks that modern day plumbing folks can even do such a repair. Or change my mind, and get a mini-split for just that room?
