Fireworks

I turned on the local news, hoping they'd be showing the 7 PM fireworks in Boston. Nope. The news trucks were based elsewhere and they didn't send anybody down the street to the common. Random person on youtube was streaming a not very well focused view. 25 of us watched briefly. Happening at the same time, the panoramic view from Westminster Abbey was clearer (no fireworks really visible) and had bell sounds to boot. BTS fan twitter friend had good shots of the London Eye fireworks.
Technology is wonderful and strange.

I had no idea that was scheduled or normal!

Every year of the decades I've been going to first night, including 2020 (when they were on TV in their entirety, and we watched from home). They are shot off from near the ball field on the flat part of the common. One can get close enough to be hit by falling ashes sometimes. One very cold year we stood in the public garden and watched the fireworks reflect on the frozen pond.

There are midnight ones over the Harbor as well, but I've never seen them, because they conflict with ringing time.
