Trump posted on his Truth Social site then: “For far too long the United States has minted pennies which literally cost us more than 2 cents. This is so wasteful!” He said he had instructed his Treasury secretary to stop their production.

Oh, what the hell. This administration just gets its jollies from destruction.

Canada's been penniless for years now. I think it's overdue. This will have the side effect of providing a space in the cash drawer for $1 coins and maybe we can get rid of the $1 bill as well.

The dollar coin thing is never going to work (INO). Susan B coins - nope. Other attempts? Nope.
I like dollar bills. They are lighter weight than a sensible sized coin would be. (one of the previous dollar coin attempts was too close to quarter size and people kept messing up, accidentally paying a dollar for instead of 25 cents).

We live in a strange society in which some places don't want you to use cash at all and others charge you extra for using a card.
