Author Douglas Adams died 25 years ago today, at age 49. I thought about him a couple of days ago, particularly the book "Last Chance to See." I don't think I realized how close he was to my age.

Oh, wow, I hadn't realized how young he died, or that he was just a little bit older than my parents. I will always associate him with my father, who read the books out loud to me at times when I needed cheering up/ the message "don't panic", and who died at age 59, but I'd imagined him as being substantially older than Dad.
