Feb. 14th, 2006 04:56 pmI spoke to my mother this morning. She said "I can't skate or ski or snowboard, so I'm letting other people do that for me." I guess she feels adequately represented by the US athletes.
Some of the ladies from my tap class who are about Mama's age were lamenting this morning about the way figure skating has moved away from gracefulness (although that is still valued) to an emphasis on dangerous, difficult tricks. Wistful jokes were made about the fact that Sonja Henie might now be out-skated by elementary school girls.

I've been pretty unnerved about the quantity and type of injuries (skiing, skating, luge), including several people knocked unconscious. Yikes.
