I was pleased to hear that more different countries won medals this time than at any previous winter Olympics. I was not pleased that NBC decided to cut out parts of the athletes' march during the closing ceremony to show us re-runs of competitions. Nice to see juggling and ladder walking and other circus arts during the show. We are happy that the Vancouver winter Olympics are having an Inukshuk as their logo, and think they should figure out some way for it to be the mascot as well.
One of the NBC commentators remarked that the people they hyped in advance didn't do very well overall, and maybe they should stop selecting people that way. We can only hope.

I don't mind about the Dubai folks hoping to manage our ports. I don't think the Homeland Security people have any right to talk about ports, considering the fact that container ships are still only spot checked, among lots of other complaints. I was a little perturbed by the upcoming purchase of Keyspan by National Grid. It's not like I'm a fan of Keyspan's management either, but I don't like the idea of the Brits owning a huge US utility that way.
