instant gratification
Jan. 25th, 2007 12:26 pmYesterday I went for a walk and suddenly wanted to hear the musical duet from the end of "Master and Commander." Youtube, to the rescue
Arthur sometimes mocks the tendency on TV drama shows to have a summing-up montage at the end of the episode with a musical background and no dialogue. This is really the same kind of thing, but we both felt that it was the perfect ending to the film.
Later in the day I got off the bus in Arlington Center wishing for a vegetable samosa. There is an Indian restaurant there (the Punjab), but I didn't want to deal with that. I hadn't noticed before that the same folks have a grocery store across the street from the restaurant. I walked in and went to the back, where there was a case of prepared foods, including samosas. I managed to convince the person not to serve it in polystyrene and walked away with a warm somosa on a tissue. Perfect.
Months after buying this laptop, I finally figured out earlier this week how to set up the desktop background. I started off with a photo of Vartinna in concert (they were my choice last Friday). Relevant to M&C, today I switched to this painting of 3 guys playing characters named Captain Jack

I suspect that tomorrow I'll put up one of our Alaska photos instead.
