Becoming Jane
Aug. 6th, 2007 08:35 amI liked it a lot. The comparisons to "Shakespeare in Love" are apt - take a small amount of known facts and spin a fanciful tale, salting the script with a few choice lines lifted from well-known works of the author. People have long theorized that Austen's short acquaintance (flirtation?) with Tom LeFroy was in her mind when she wrote "Pride & Prejudice." Much of the rest, except for some family details that are well-known, was somewhere between stretched truth and total imagination on the part of the scriptwriters. It was really pretty to look at, though.
