I saw the NYC equal marriage headline and without thinking clapped. The NY legislature is not in the room to hear me, but I applaud them, anyway.
Listening to the National 12-bell striking competition streaming live from Leeds. http://www.12bell.org.uk/
The Stockton-on-Tees band is making rather a lot of striking mistakes (but improving). This is not to say that *I* could ring Pudsey S Max in an unfamiliar tower under pressure, knowing that judges and kibitzers in the church yard and deskchair conductors* around the world are noting every fault, I'm just making an observation, and feeling my usual pleasure and gratitude that I can listen to something like that and hear each bell in each change, and know whether or not people are being precise.

*(I'm trying to come up with an expression that matches armchair quarterbacks)

Now that we have finished our first clinical experience, there is a party at the home of one of my
classmates. I promised to bring an appetizer. I bought some really good bread at When Pigs Fly in Davis Square (sun dried tomato/oil/basil) and thought to make orange lentil spread to go along with it. It suddenly dawned on me that other people might not eat that. They will know as the token vegetarian in the class (there may be one other), I won't bring anything with meat, but something that seems like a basic staple to me might seem weird to them. Oh, well. I'll leave out the Indian spices, in case that would make it taste too strong (but would that make it boring?).
