Build a new soccer stadium at Wonderland (I didn't make up this idea - someone suggested it after dog racing stopped, but nothing came of it).
Use Harvard's Olympic pool & diving facilities for swimming and diving. Find somewhere else for synchronized swimming. Don't build a new aquatic center.
Ignore the number 80,000 seats. Put the opening and closing ceremonies in Foxboro(ugh), and squeeze in as many people as will fit.
Track and field things as they fit in local university facilities.
Do not build an Olympic Village. Put the athletes and others in dorms around the area. Arthur says that this won't allow for extensive security arrangements. Maybe, but maybe having no central area would make each individual athlete more secure, because there wouldn't be an obvious target.
Spend several billion dollars and the next ten years fixing the T, adding safe bike tracks, and bribing local businesses to close down for the duration of the games, so that downtown streets will be emptier. Spend another however much it would take to make the above facilities accessible, in preparation for the Paralympics.
There we are - everything taken care of. Time to hold a contest to name the mascots.
