I have just spent an hour going through old posts, trying to find the one about my visit to the NMAAHC.
No luck. There are many moving exhibits in the museum, but the one that had me tear up was the reconstructed lunch counter, with actual stools from the original Woolworth sit-in location

I was in preschool at the time, oblivious to civil rights issues, and didn't hear about it at all. Until college, probably. But it was only an hour from where I grew up, and as an adult, it mattered to me, as a profile in courage.
