The Finnish Olympic women's hockey team has 14 members with Norovirus. I don't know if anybody is testing for anything in advance of travel, or doing any kind of disease prevention. We live in a pro-disease world.

The good news is that measles cases are slightly down in SC because previously reluctant parents suddenly decided to get kids vaccinated.

Norovirus isn't spread by air so the mask doesn't help. Washing your hands, though, is very important. As usual, it's important for the infected person to avoid spreading it, which probably they don't care about.

There's a study for a norovirus vaccine that Valerie's in.

There have been studies over decades about how much waste gets aerosolized into the room when flushing a toilet that doesn't have a lid down, which includes almost all public toilets. I know about norovirus in general but I dowonder about the aerosols.

Is the norovirus stable enough that a vaccine would be good for multiple years? A vaccine would be very exciting, especially for babies in daycare.

The problem with Norovirus is apparently not specifically that it is unstable, but that the natural immunity is short-lived. The vaccine people are hoping to have something that lasts longer than natural immunity (which is only a few months.)
