still pondering ball-wear
Jan. 5th, 2009 07:05 pmWhile it is true that something passably steampunk could be make from things already in the house, I keep thinking that "ball" implies something more formal. I'm considering this Butterick

For day wear, I really prefer the girl's outfit in the upper right (brown skirt and jacket) but I'm not sure a girl size 14 (the biggest available) would fit me. Pattern sizes are so confusing anyway.
This (not in white, without the hem ruffle or the train) would be wonderful to own in general, but possibly not quite right for the occasion)
