Jan. 6th, 2009 12:07 pmI was looking through the Web Gallery of Art's pictures with Epiphany in the title, and noticed that while most of the people seem warmly dressed, baby Jesus is generally depicted naked. Giotto has him still swaddled http://www.wga.hu/art/g/giotto/z_panel/3polypty/1epiphany.jpg but by the 15th century, he's naked. At least in this one by Bosch the shepherds still have bagpipes

I'd like to have a better look at Jesus's face, coping with having his arm pulled and smooched. Patient and world-weary as a newborn?
