It's an odd thing about snatches of memory - sometime in the late 1970s, a couple of friends who were in the Tanglewood festival chorus jokingly referred to Michael Tilson Thomas as "Twinkletoes." I have no idea why, but three decades later, with one of the friends long dead, I think of that every time I see a photo of MTT.
