how sneaky *is* amazon.com?
Aug. 10th, 2009 12:51 pmI got an email from Amazon this morning, suggesting that I buy "Patterns of Fashion 4." I probably will, despite the fact that I may never sew anything from it. I was not bothered by
this recommendation - I have bought related items, and there are things on my wish list that
would lead someone to believe that I'd buy this. In the same email, though, they also recommend books that are for OT and PT folks. I don't think I've searched amazon for any of those, and there aren't any on my wish list. Those fields are definitely here in LJ land and in a number of emails I've sent (and I've done searches for OT grad schools). Would the number of anatomy and fitness books I've bought lead them to make such precise suggestions? A little creepy.
What I really am planning to buy soon is plastic storage crates. I know that buying storage equipment is not the same as clearing out space, but in this case I think it would help. I had the realization that the attic and the laptop's discs are the same - adding (or even shifting around) anything to either is complicated by the fullness thereof, and dealing with either (attic or laptop) is slowed down by the lack of empty space. (In a related note, the crawlspace has been safely cleared out but the TV box doesn't fit there. Also, if you wash iron olympic weight plates, they may start to rust.)

Date: 2009-08-10 07:59 pm (UTC)As for Amazon, if you've bought anatomy and fitness books from them, I could definitely see them getting to OT/PT stuff from that.

They come in different sizes and are stackable. The Target used to have them, but I haven't shopped there in a while. Their online store shows a variety of stuff from that manufacturer, but it doesn't mean that everything is available at the store.
