I ordered a banana carrying case on Sunday from a place in California. (this, but it's not the vendor I used http://www.bananaguard.com/) It arrived in the mail box today (Wednesday), regular mail. Postage on it: $2.29. (the packing slip also had some endearing non-native speaker of English stuff, lauding the item as "very cute! very dedicate!").
I put a Netflix DVD into the mailbox at the Lexington post office yesterday at 5 PM. An email from Netflix at 7:30 AM today (14.5 hours later) reported that the DVD had arrived at 10:48 AM. Not only can they deliver things promptly, apparently they deliver them in the future. or something.

By contrast, a package sent via FEDEX on Friday, specifying delivery on the next business day, finally was delivered on Tuesday. Cost: $25.00. To be fair, they had tried to deliver it on Monday, but the shipper messed up and checked the "designated signature required" box even though she & I had agreed that no signature would be necessary. I spent a lot of time on Monday emailing, calling, and rushing about trying to get it, to no avail. I was standing on the porch impatiently when the guy finally drove up yesterday afternoon.
