Suzy Homemaker works out
Oct. 4th, 2009 09:39 amThe exercise prescription teacher (he's an adjunct, not a professor - he's a long-term athlete who runs a conditioning place), when trying to categorize some of the non-athlete women he works with, uses the phrase "Suzy Homemaker." His MS from BU was in 1984, so that would make him somewhere in his late 40s, I guess. I suppose he might just remember the SH products from the 1960s. I certainly do.

I found it a little irritating when I first heard it, and started having fantasies of photoshopping the old toy company logo onto barbell plates. A project that probably won't happen.
He is fine with women doing heavy-duty weight training - one of the scheduled guest speakers is Liane Blyn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hinRzIljXmQ
- but putting people into jokey boxes isn't something that I like.
On the other hand, it's hard to imagine that he could come up with anything as appalling as this photo(and I'm sure he wouldn't put up with mis-reported scientific journal articles):
