not very organized

miraclaire's friend Catherine explain her system for preparing to write papers. It involved color coordinated highlighters, post-it notes, and index cards, I think. I sat mouth agape at the thought. I'm beginning to find it (in retrospect) somewhat attractive, although I don't think I'll ever get past the idea that highlighting in a book is (insert your favorite awful verb here). I'm currently reading 6 books for this paper (for which I have changed the thesis statement and outline with less than a week to go) plus magazine and journal articles. Except for little bookmarks and occasional cryptic notes, I'm keeping it all in my head. I expect my head to explode at some point, and then where will I be?
