Was today "get out of the house" day? The T was packed, the grocery stores were packed, all the parking spaces in Arlington Heights were full.

I can't find a corroborating news story online, but I was told today that Prometric (the test taking facility chain) x-ray wands test-takers before they enter the facility because at some
point in the past, a guy taking the nurse's license test in Idaho was so mad when he failed that he shot the proctor (as opposed to shooting the computer that gave him the failing score). The US is a weird place.

I can't speak to the reason, but as it happens I was at a Prometric facility last Friday and they did in fact wand all test-takers. I assumed that it was to ensure that we didn't have little electronic "assistants", but guns would work too ...
